Get to know Karen, our Land Director at Savista

What is your role at Savista?

I am the Land Director at Savista Developments. My job role is to acquire sought-after care home development locations across the South of England.

Why did you choose to join Savista and how long have you worked here?

I started working for Savista on 1st June 2020, so I haven’t been with the company for very long. I chose to work for Savista having worked in all sectors of residential development from affordable housing, private rented sector, to private sales. I wanted to be part of a company that felt more like a family and who wanted to make a difference to people’s lives.

I also wanted to have a new challenge as I had never worked in the care sector before joining Savista. I felt that with my knowledge and experience, I could help Savista to be the leading developer and provide the highest quality care and facilities for later living lifestyles.

What is a typical day like for you?

A typical day for me includes sourcing new development opportunities, liaising with solicitors, vising potential new sites, liaising with architects, speaking to agents about new opportunities, reading contracts and team meetings with the rest of the Land Team.

What do you love about your job?

Every day is different. I love finding a new development opportunity and agreeing terms with an owner.

What has been your most proud moment at Savista so far?

My proudest moment so far has been sourcing two new possible opportunities for Savista – land assembly in Sunbury-on-Thames and a large site in Ascot.

Tell us something we won’t know about you?

I moved to Ireland when I was 12 years old and lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere. I also went to a catholic school for my secondary education where I was taught by nuns. I had a horse called Rory and used to show jump and take part in dressage’s.
