Richard Bettridge

Get to know Richard, our Quality Control Manager at Savista

What is your role at Savista?

I’m the Quality Control Manager and my role is to improve quality throughout the business, improve efficiency, reduce risk and improve the standard of construction and the finish of our projects.

Why did you choose to join Savista and how long have you worked here?

I have worked at Savista for 10 weeks. I came from the residential housing sector and I have worked for major builders including; Taylor Wimpey and Vanderbilt Homes. I joined Savista because I liked the challenge of working for a care home construction company and learning about a different sector’s building requirements and regulations.

What is a typical day like for you?

My job varies. Some days I’m on site supporting the construction teams, inspecting work as it progresses, identifying risks and overcoming issues and problems, then other days I’m helping the technical and commercial teams with trade specifications and scopes of work and technical details.

What do you love about your job?

The variety it brings and being involved in all the different aspects of the company and build. I also love the creative side of the building and seeing a project come to life.

What has been your most proud moment at Savista so far?

We have just started the journey of transferring all our site-based documentation on to a digital cloud-based system. This will enable our teams to access health and safety, construction documents and quality control electronically. This will have a major impact on quality and efficiency.

Tell us something we won’t know about you (something to do with hobbies, talents or family etc)?

I’m married with three boys who keep me busy and we now have a new member of the family, a Shih Tzu called Florence who is nine weeks old. I like to spend my spare time at my Masonic Lodge where I’m Worshipful Master.
